Indications/Uses
Corneal ulcers, conjunctivitis & blepharitis caused by susceptible strains of bacteria in adults & childn ≥12 mth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Corneal ulcers 2 drops into the affected eye every 15 min for 6 hr & 2 drops into the affected eye every 30 min for the remainder of 1st day. Day 2: Instill 2 drops in the affected eye hrly. Day 3-14: Instill 2 drops into the affected eye every 4 hr. Bacterial conjunctivitis Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac(s) every 2 hr while awake for 2 days & 1 drop every 4 hr while awake for the next 5 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin & other quinolones including nalidixic acid.
Special Precautions
Not for inj. Phototoxicity; avoid excessive sunlight. Overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms including fungi (prolonged use). Discontinue at 1st appearance of skin rash or hypersensitivity occur. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Drug Interactions
May elevate plasma conc of theophylline. May interfere w/ the metabolism of caffeine. May enhance effect of warfarin & its derivatives. Transient elevations of serum creatinine w/ cyclosporin.
